Christina Laurel

April 2017

Christina Laurel, a resident of Liberty, SC, creates immersive installations in Japanese shoji paper, which is often printed with images from her two-dimension artwork. The walk-in installations provide an art experience – an oasis in our world of sensory bombardment. Laurel uses nature as a reference – e.g., gingko leaf and butterfly. Laurel was an artist-in-residence at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, in 2016, at the Hambidge Center, Rabun Gap, GA, in 2015, and at the Paducah Arts Alliance, Paducah, KY, in 2014. Her solo exhibit “Remnants” was displayed in January/February 2017 in the gallery of the Metropolitan Arts Council, Greenville, SC.
