Peter Tudhope
September 2015Peter Tudhope lives and works in his native Scotland. Grounded in the British and European landscape tradition, his art involves responding to his immediate surroundings and translating the experience into visual thoughts. Tudhope has worked on landscapes in Scotland and Ireland, mainly in oils on canvas, and prefers to draw with compressed charcoal on paper often adding other mixed media and collage. More recently he’s begun drawing with water-soluble graphite and watercolor. Many of these drawings become completed works in their own right. They are a starting point, a reference and a completed entity. The paintings tend to be heavily worked using brushes and palette knives, building up layers until a desired quality of expression has brought the work to completion.
Tudhope has been shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout Britain.
