Rusty Roden

Rusty is a conductor, composer, pianist, vocalist, and teacher. He has extensive choral, musical theatre, and opera performance experience. His compositions are largely choral, both secular and sacred. He composes for adults as well as children.

Rusty is retired from the music classroom, most recently at Episcopal School of Acadiana, where he taught music to PreK – 5th graders. He is currently co-artistic director for Chorale Acadienne, a decades old, semi-professional choral organization in Lafayette, Louisiana.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette studying under Dr. James Haygood. Rusty is an active member of the American Choral Director’s Association and the National Association for Music Education. In his retirement from teaching, he enjoys gardening, traveling, and painting along with his composing and conducting career. He resides in Lafayette, Louisiana with his wife, Dr. Karen Roden. They have two adult children, Hallie (Decatur, GA) and John (Scott, LA).
