Keija Parssinen is the author of the novels The Ruins of Us, which earned a Michener-Copernicus award and was National Geographic Traveler Book of the Month, and The Unraveling of Mercy Louis, which earned an Alex Award from the American Library Association. Her writing has been published in The New York Review of Books, The Atlantic, The Southern Review, Gulf Coast, Puerto del Sol, Slate, Salon and elsewhere, and has been supported by fellowships from MacDowell, Yaddo, Hedgebrook, The Oklahoma Center for the Humanities, and others. A graduate of Princeton University and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was a Truman Capote fellow, she is currently an Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing at Kenyon College.
