Kendall Portis

October 2017

Kendall Portis spent over 20 years as a law enforcement officer in southwest Atlanta and served twice as an Embedded Civilian Police Mentor for the International Security Alliance Force in Afghanistan. “In 2014, with my dream to paint going unfulfilled, I asked myself a serious question…if not now, when?” In 2017 Portis won the Award of Merit in Paint Duluth, Third Place Award in the Open Division of Forgotten Coast En Plein Air and Second Place in the Open Division of Paint Quick at the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational. His article “Tools and Methods” was featured in Folio Magazine of the Portrait Society of Atlanta. He is a Life Drawing Facilitator at the Atlanta Artist Center and a member of the Portrait Society of Atlanta.
